Our Process
Working mainly with stoneware clays, our ceramics are hand-thrown and built by Mecki. After extensive drying they go through 3 firing cycles taking 30 hours with the kiln temperature rising to 1000C, 1260C and 850C.  Glazing happens after the first emergence from the kiln. Illustrations are added between the 2nd and final firing.

As all our pieces are handmade in small batches some variations of form and glazing do occur. Of course, it’s these differences that give each piece its unique character and enhances its artisan charm.

Our ceramics are food-safe and lead-free.  Illustrations are integral to the glaze and won’t fade over time.
Whilst it’s a fact that handmade ceramics do not offer the degree of strength of high quality industrial ware, our stoneware is nevertheless very robust. Yet to preserve its beauty longterm, we advise hand-washing and only occasional oven use.
